When I left school in '78 I wanted to be a graphic artist but my family chose cabinetmaking. I began carving about 12 years ago, spending many an evening listening to the radio, trying different designs and timbers, filling the house with carvings, scroll saw designs, carved burl bowls, paua encrusted pieces, boxes and kid's names plates.
